I started in the trades as an arborist for a local tree company. A serious accident took me out of the field permanently — but it didn't take me out of the industry. I'd spent years working alongside tradesmen, watching how their businesses ran, and I knew exactly how hard it was to keep the phone ringing. So instead of leaving the trades behind, I went looking for a different way to help them grow.
What I found made me angry.
Most contractors I talked to were getting destroyed by their marketing agencies. Locked into 12-month contracts they couldn't escape. Paying $3,000 to $5,000 a month for "SEO" with no measurable outcomes. Juggling three or four vendors — one for the website, one for ads, one for the Google Business Profile — none of them coordinated, all of them charging full retainer. Their reports were stacked with impressions, clicks, and "ranking improvements" — but nobody could answer the only question that mattered: did the phone ring more?
So I started building something different.
I started TradeMarked Consulting in 2021 — just me and a laptop. I spent the next several years testing what actually moved Google rankings for local contractors, throwing out everything that didn't tie back to phone calls, and refining what did. The patterns that emerged became the three pillars: Foundation, Authority, Amplification. Every layer reinforces the next. Skip one, the system breaks.
